Rupert Sheldrake was one of the keynote speakers at the IONS International Conference in San Francisco last month.

"Rupert Sheldrake, one of the world's most innovative biologists and writers, is best known for his theory of morphic fields and morphic resonance, which leads to a vision of a living, developing universe with its own inherent memory."
(From his website: www.sheldrake.org)

Unfortunately, he himself won't be at our gathering, but we'll tap into his morphic field, through his books, IONS teleseminars and the last preconference workshop. You could also learn about his work on his website, which has tons of materials you could watch and listen to.

Hope you could join us to explore together the work of one of the most fascinating and controversial noetic scientists of our time.

We'll have special musician guests. It will be a more participatory playshop, rather than one-way performance. Bring your musical instruments, rattles, etc.

From February through June, IONS featured a monthly teleseminar series about a new vision for aging. This series included topics such as the latest research on how our brains age and change over time, psychological and emotional tools for mastering this stage in our lives, and spiritual insights into the aging process.

In the description of the latest teleseminar, it says:

"Aging includes loss and great changes and yet there can also be an awakening to a greater sense of wonder, meaning, creativity and 'radical amazement.' Our actions can come from a different place, one that is not driven by ego but from a higher transpersonal consciousness where self-esteem and self-worth come from Being-Mode instead of Doing-Mode." (www.noetic.org/library/sets/audio/conscious-aging-teleseminar-series/4)

This month, we will be sharing our thoughts and experiences around the topic of aging. What does "conscious aging" mean to you? What are your observations, insights, learnings on this topic? Feel free to bring books and suggestions for films etc.

One of the ongoing IONS Teleseminar Series (April-June) is "Mysteries of Consciousness."
www.noetic.org/library/sets/audio/mysteries-of-consciousness-teleseminar-series/
"Our Vision" in the IONS website states: "It is our conviction that systematic inquiries into consciousness will catalyze positive concrete transfromations in the world."

What is consciousness? Is everything consciousness? Is consciousness an epiphenomenon of brain activities? These teleseminars give us some clues. Let's explore together this most fundamental topic of IONS, since Noetics often say: "Consciousness matters!"

From January through March, 2011, IONS weekly teleseminar series [available at www.noetic.org/library/sets/audio/shifting-paradigms-teleseminar-series/] focused on various aspects of the paradigm shift we are currently experiencing, including 'Accelerators for Transformation' (February) and 'Global Transformational Opportunities' (March).

This month we will take up the topic of shifting paradigms.  Some suggested definitions for the word paradigm (from www.wiktionary.org ) include:

    • An example serving as a model, pattern, or template.

    • A system of assumptions, concepts, values, and practices that constitutes a way of viewing reality.

A conceptual framework—an established thought process.

    • A way of thinking which can occasionally lead to misleading predispositions; a prejudice.

What do we mean when we speak of a 'paradigm shift'?  Where, in your own experience, do you see indications that such a shift may be taking place?  What catalysts for transformation seem to be accessible to us at this time?

Let’s explore together how this many-faceted theme which IONS has been exploring in recent months is connected with our lives and the larger world.

Let's talk movies this month. One of the recent IONS teleseminars was titled, "Consciousness in Film," and the visionary was Stephen Simon, the Spiritual Cinema Circle co-founder. You could download the teleseminar for free at:

http://www.noetic.org/library/audio-teleseminars/consciousness-in-film-with-stephen-simon/

In its description of the teleseminar, it states: "there are fewer films that shed light on the beautiful side of our nature--the side that consciously evolves, forgives, and loves." Could movies deepen our spirituality? Do you have movies that were transformative in your life? Could movies contritute to the personal or collective shift in consciousness? Please bring suggestions and recommendations for noetic kinds of movies.
