"What would it be like to be free from limitations and soar beyond your boundaries? What can you do each day to find this kind of inner peace and freedom? The Untethered Soul offers a simple, profoundly intuitive answer to these questions."
--from IONS website

Continuing our focus on the Individual change, this month we are using Michael A. Singer's 2007 book, The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself, published by Noetic Books, to deepen our exploration and discussion of our inner space...the question of who we really are.

The IONS website introduces the book:
"The Untethered Soul begins by walking you through your relationship with your thoughts and emotions, helping you uncover the source and fluctuations of your inner energy. It then delves into what you can do to free yourself from the habitual thoughts, emotions, and energy patterns that limit your consciousness. Finally, with perfect clarity, this book opens the door to a life lived in the freedom of your innermost being."

It would help if you have read the book, but it's not necessary; we will read paragraphs from the book which will introduce the core of its concept.

January Gathering--2012

       Metro Bus Rt: 5, 48, 35
Time: 6:00-8:00pm  (Join us for social time at 5:30pm)

Many of us make a new year's resolution and miserably fail. IONS presented a teleseminar, "Immunity to Change" by Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey in 2009; one of the most original and brilliant approaches to a personal and organizational change.

Anne Sweeney, President of Disney-ABC Television Group, writes about their book:

"A recent study showed that when doctors tell heart patients they will die if they don't change their habits, only one in seven will be able to follow through successfully. Desire and motivation aren't enough: even when it's literally a matter of life or death, the ability to change remains maddeningly elusive... Kegan and Lahey examine why change is so hard and offer innovative, practical insight to overcome the internal and external obstacles and to meet the challenge of change."

We are going to listen to the audio recording of the 2009 IONS teleseminar together. The format is more like an experiential workshop, rather than a lecture. Bring a notebook and pen.

This could transform your life!

One of the IONS teleseminars this year was "Eating with Reverence" with Shannon Kring Buset, and in its description it asks:

"What does the way in which we in the US raise, purchase, prepare, and eat our foods say about us? How does it speak to the way in which we regard our bodies, our communities, our environment, and the universe at large?"

How do other cultures and traditions relate to food and spirit? Please join us and share your experiences and stories. Let's celebrate together with food, music and great conversation!
